Often times when the granules begin to come off, it is a sure sign that it’s time to replace the roof. Also check for seals around boots and flashing to ensure that it is still properly waterproofed. Cracks in these areas can cause water to get into your home.

If you’re wondering if your roof is leaking, try spraying it with a garden hose for a prolonged period of time. This might help you determine if you do indeed have a leak and also where the leak is located. Also, keeping an eye on the roof and attic during heavy rain can also help you identify leaks, if any and show you the exact spot where the leak is occurring.

Inspection & Materials
You should inspect your roof carefully on an annual basis. The roof is particularly vulnerable during the cold winter months on in to the warmer spring season. So, be sure to inspect your roof during or after these troublesome months.

You should choose materials used for your roof in relation of the weather. Roofing made of clay is suited to dry climates as it helps cool the home. However, if your climate is rainy, clay roofs can quickly deteriorate. If you don’t know what material is best in your area, ask us.
