Visilli came out and gave us a quote and took several pictures and video from on top of the roof, highlighted the issues and presented options. Soon after we got the financing started, we received a call from Dimitri to let us know when they would drop off the roofing supplies. The supplies were delivered on schedule on a Friday and the following Monday they showed up at 7AM as promised with a crew of about 5-6 men. They tarped off the deck and started the removal of the old roof right away. They finished scraping the old shingles off our very steep roof in no time and began installation of the new roof. They finished the entire job and were gone by 3:15 PM. At my request, they even repaired the sheetrock in my laundry room where the old roof had leaked! We would recommend Home Evolution to anyone! Company setup for appointment was very easy and flexible. Came to my home and spent about an hour with me talking about the process and showing me videos of their roofing team at work. Explained to me the difference in products on the market. I was very impressed and signed a contract on the spot. New roof was scheduled to be installed with in two weeks after signing the contract and the team took off my old roof and put on the new roof in the same day. Home Evolution (Alex) provided a prompt visit to assess the job and provide his roofing proposal for our 1975 home. Unexpectedly, Alex sat down with us and explained everything that he proposed to do to complete the job the right way. This included a well prepared video of what we could expect and presentation of literature and samples of products that were planned to be used (e.g., synthetic roofing underlayment, etc.) As an engineer, I appreciated that because unless you know the details of what you are paying for I’m not sure how anyone can make an informed decision – especially with all of the (170 or so) roofing contractors in business in the area. The job entailed: installation of heavy canvas tarps to protect landscaping, removal of two layers of 3-tab shingles, removal of the original plywood sheathing due to black mold, removal of existing air vents, removal of the existing gutters and downspouts, installation of Advantech 5/8 in. thick tongue and groove sheathing (that we specifically requested since our roof rafters are on 24 in. centers), installation of Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration (Architectural) Shingles, installation of heavy duty and wider than normal drip edge, installation of a previously non-existing ridge vent (Owens Corning VentSure), installation of bath fan aluminum roof caps (that they agreed to include in the cost days after the proposal was provided), hook-up of the bath fan ducts that were previously run to the vented soffit, and clean-up and haul away of all materials at the end of the job. About a week later, installation of new seamless gutters (w/ gutter guards) and commercial sized downspouts was completed by a subcontractor with Home Evolution oversight. A crew of 7-8 workers showed up promptly at around 7:15 AM on the day of the job along with a main foreman for the job (Vasiliy). A second foreman (Ivan) also assisted on the job in various ways. Each of the crew members had a set responsibility to complete the job in a very efficient manner. This included crew members to tear off the old shingles and sheathing, a crew member simultaneously cleaning up the old shingle and sheathing debris, crew members completing cuts of the new sheathing and loading the power ladder with new materials, members preparing and installing flashing for a lower roof section, a member installing the lower roof shingles, at least three or four members installing the new main roofing material, etc. Meanwhile, I was able to talk with Vasiliy (primarily) and/or Ivan and ask them many questions. Both were very accommodating to answer my questions and requests that I had, and did a great job overseeing all aspects of the job as it progressed. The crew worked hard and steady! Within about two hours from the start of work, both layers of old shingles and the old sheathing were removed, and the new roof was being installed promptly thereafter. Installing the non-standard 5/8 in. tongue and groove (normally 1/2 in. no T&G) sheathing on old, somewhat sagging and twisted 2″x6″ rafters had to be somewhat challenging but seemed to be no problem for the crew. After a short break for lunch, the entire crew was back at work. By around 2-3 PM the entire job was completed including cleanup. I give them an A -A+ for most aspects of the job. I rated the cost as a B not because the job was overpriced necessarily, but being an engineer, I just have a hard time agreeing that anything that costs 5 figures is an excellent price. I do think the cost was fair for the quality and speediness of the work completed. The team cared about details, which I very much appreciate. This included snapping chalk lines on the new sheathing, making adjustments as needed to ensure the ring shank nails (the best!) were properly installed through the sheathing and into the rafters, carefully replacing the attic insulation after the fan ducts were pulled up, etc., etc. I have peace of mind knowing that the job was done right. I also know that they are only a phone call away if I have any questions going forward. Alex, Vasiliy, Ivan, and the rest of the team are very trustworthy people. We hired Home Evolution for a leaky roof repair. Igor came and explained everything up front, We knew exactly what would be involved in the repair, as well as the cost. They agreed to repair the roof, while several other companies were too busy to even come look. We are extremely happy with the professionalism with the entire team. Our roof looks great, with no leaks, and it is a huge relief to have an end to the worrying. I just wish there was more communication, as we waited to have the project completed.
